In the famous words of Walt Disney …“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” So doing is exactly what I did! Let me share my latest creation – a beautiful deck of daily inspiration at your fingertips.

Lessons From the Ocean
Have you ever just sat and watched the ocean?
Observed the waves rolling in, pondered how far they’ve travelled and how much power they hold?
When we finally stop, and take a moment to be present, to really listen, the world is so abundant.
Gifts and lessons abound. For most of us though, those moments to stop and absorb the beauty of what’s around us are rare. That’s why when we finally do take that step of committing to quieting our minds and just being present, the lessons we can learn are so much more valuable.
Remember back to before I went on my retreat, A Return to Grace, in Mexico. I struggled even with the seemingly simple act of committing to this event. I spent ages weighing all of the pros and cons, but I made the decision to choose self care over anything else. I chose to take the time to be present.
While I sat watching those waves break on the shores and played in them as they crashed, I started embracing the lessons that the ocean was offering to me. I jumped in and rolled around, I frolicked and played, and I danced with the waves. I let them throw me around and I engaged with them FULLY. By choosing to be present I was fully living, and the lessons the water provided me proved the value of that.
What does it mean to LIVE?
So the final pillar of Signýficant Living (which you will recall is to consciously and fearlessly live a life of meaning, passion and purpose) is … well … LIVE.
I’m talking about living your life out loud (not hiding your light under a bushel). Sharing who you are with the world (whatever part of the world feels right for you, that is). Proudly. And with umph. Bringing all of you, not just the part that seems acceptable. Living true to yourself, who you really are, in line with what is really important to you, so that this life has meaning, and is on purpose for you. So that each day is fulfilling, not just when you reach some lofty goal, but now, right … NOW.
Become a Part of the Story
This story doesn’t write itself. And just like cancer, I can’t do this all by myself. I have a vision of a world where we all feel less isolated, where we all know that we matter and our lives matter and we are significant. But I need your help.
And there are so many ways that you can do that.
- From giving of your time, energy or resources
- To running for someone
- To being someone we want to run for
All are welcome … so go ahead and find the way that you want give that is meaningful for you. And if you don’t see something that you think needs doing, go ahead and tell me about it, so that we can add it to the list.
A Different Kind of Run
I have been doing the CIBC Run for the Cure since the year I was in cancer treatment, which makes this my 14th year. Mostly now I do it to remember (and prove to myself) I can, and to stay grateful that I am alive.
To be honest, it has lost its heart.
And that makes me sad, because when I first did it, it had such meaning for me. I felt hope, and connection, a part of something bigger than me and that I was not alone in the fight.

Connected
Over the last few weeks I have been dedicating some time each day to taking care of myself. Really nurturing myself and giving myself whatever it is that I need in that time in order to be my best self for the rest of the time (because we all know that we need to fill ourselves up if we are going to have anything to give away to others – sort of along the lines of the oxygen mask on the airplane). I keep trying to convince myself that it should be easy to do that. Not just to take the time, but then to know what I need to nurture myself and then to do just that. Not so.
STOP
H ow many of us need to hear this?
We all seem to be rushing around in our lives right now. It has become not just the new normal, but the new status symbol. “I’m just too busy to connect right now”. Rushing is evidence that we are important, or needed, or irreplaceable – or something.

Just Say No!
Okay, it’s really not that easy… but it is wildly rewarding!
Cellular Alignment
What I mean by that is that place where I connect with a person so thoroughly, so easily, so synergistically that it is as if our very cells were aligned with one another. I don’t think it is just a soul mate thing, although certainly that must be some of what is at play when people have that deep connect with a romantic partner. For me I believe it is a principle that cuts through many relationships. Or at least should.
