It’s Canada Day. And I am a super proud Canadian. Which means I cry at weird stuff that has to do with Canada. I loved hosting (yeah, I didn’t do that much to host it, but you know what I mean) the Olympics. Even more I loved winning all those Gold Medals on home soil.
It runs deep for me.
And one of those things I love about Canada is how much we have a service mentality. Service isn’t the word that first comes to mind… more we are kind, and considerate and say sorry a lot. But underneath that is a service orientation. How can we be helpful, useful, good to our fellow humans? It is in our collective Canadians psyche’s. Which I am also proud of.
So when I think of service, and what it means to me… I think of making the world a better place, in big and small ways. And I think of looking out for more than just me, or just my family and friends. And for me it also includes being of spiritual service. Serving my higher power, and being willing to prioritize what She wants, over what I want or what I think might be a good idea. It involves putting the whole before me, except when it doesn’t. Because if I don’t feel whole, then I can’t serve the whole. So I believe it is in my higher powers plan to have me do the self care it takes to be full up, so that I can love you better.
In line with that I will continue to make prayer and meditation a focus for July. I will continue to engaged in daily ways to be in conscious contact with my H.P. so that I can hear what is next for me and do it with equanimity and grace (as much as is possible for me, that is). I will let myself be loved and I will let myself love the world, to the best of my ability.
What are you going to commit to this month?
How will you serve?
