Have you ever pondered the questions: if there is one message you could offer the world… what would it be?
It’s been up for me a lot and what I couldn’t see for years has now finally come into focus. And it was what I was born to do.
Signyficant Living.
That’s right, and no I didn’t miss spell it. I mean to say signyficant living. Signy-ficant. Living. Living on purpose. Whatever that is for you (even though it has me in the word, is it meant to signify what makes it significant to each of us. What is your signyficant thing, get it?). Whatever that is for each individual person.
When I flesh it out more fully I assert that: Signyficant Living means to consciously and fearlessly choose to live a life of meaning, passion and purpose.
Doesn’t that just go BOOM (or is it just me)?
And there are 3 elements to it.
BE. CHOOSE. LIVE.
All important, all distinct.
Today I want to talk about the first one. BE.
We all desire to create a remarkable, successful (however you define it) and vibrant life. It’s a Maslow thing (if that seems obscure to you, look it up). What we sometimes forget is that that vibrant life needs to start from the inside to be truly extraordinary and meaningful.
Bottom line: Your greatest significance comes from being fully you.
And that can only happen when you are in right relationship with yourself. You see for most of us there is a gap between who we are, and how we show up in the world. The problem is that that gap, that incongruence, is also the distance between the difference we are making and the difference we COULD be making.
Your gift to the world comes in being ALL of you. Because all of you is that way for a reason. Your quirks are you magic. The thing that sets you apart is the core of your contribution.
And so, clearly, congruence is the key to Signyficant Living.
Then the question becomes: How do you get into right relationship with yourself? How do you close the gap?
And those are the questions that I am going to be exploring, in this blog, when speaking at events like I did at BC Women Lead, and in my new Busting the Busy-ness Habit Virtual Masterminding Group coming up in the fall.
Next week I will post on what I mean by CHOOSE, when coming from the lens of Signyficant Living. So stay tuned, and if you aren’t already, sign up to get it straight into your inbox.
Hi Signy!
I’m impressed with what I just read regarding “Being” and I don’t want to miss out on “Choose” (which has never been easy for me in the past) so I’m signing up for your next postings.
BTW, how the heck are you? It’s so interesting to see what directions people have chosen – your path is especially inspirational to me.
Here’s an article that recently hit home for me: http://philipshepherd.com/the-sun/
I’m interesting in getting out of head more and connecting with the ‘brain in the belly’ so I did a “Radical Wholeness” workshop with the interview subject, Philip Shepherd. Thought I’d share it with you too just in case you find it interesting.
Wishing you all the best,
Suzie
