Have you ever just sat and watched the ocean?
Observed the waves rolling in, pondered how far they’ve travelled and how much power they hold?
When we finally stop, and take a moment to be present, to really listen, the world is so abundant.
Gifts and lessons abound. For most of us though, those moments to stop and absorb the beauty of what’s around us are rare. That’s why when we finally do take that step of committing to quieting our minds and just being present, the lessons we can learn are so much more valuable.
Remember back to before I went on my retreat, A Return to Grace, in Mexico. I struggled even with the seemingly simple act of committing to this event. I spent ages weighing all of the pros and cons, but I made the decision to choose self care over anything else. I chose to take the time to be present.
While I sat watching those waves break on the shores and played in them as they crashed, I started embracing the lessons that the ocean was offering to me. I jumped in and rolled around, I frolicked and played, and I danced with the waves. I let them throw me around and I engaged with them FULLY. By choosing to be present I was fully living, and the lessons the water provided me proved the value of that.
