In many ways this is the new year. Spring, a new start. Astrologically we are back at the beginning with Aries. One of the two days when the day and the night are equal. It is a special time, filled with magic, if we want to tap into it. What we plant now (literally and figuratively) will grow for the next 6 months. it will start as what seems like a small inconsequential thing, but will blossom, bloom, mature, ripen, and become what it was always supposed to be, it’s magnificent self. So I ask you again … what do you want to create, to intend, to draw into your life? Which of your heart’s desires do you want to grow?

What Legacy Will YOU Leave?
Legacy is one of those loaded words. We all know we’re supposed to want to have it (at least when we’ve worked our way up Maslow’s hierarchy to the top). But what is it, how do we create it, and how do we create a legacy that’s actually true to who we are, not just one that looks good on paper?
Thanksgiving Gratitude
This has been a really hard year for me in a myriad of different ways. Yet even when things are hard (or maybe especially when they’re hard) it’s exactly when we all need to take a look at what IS good … and to take our attention off of what is painful and hard, and redirect it to what is a blessing and brings us joy.
Live a Life of Participation
Participation is a life choice. We’ve been talking a lot about decisions in the last few months, but if we’re not choosing the perspective of participation then we are choosing passivity and waiting.
So here’s the challenge: Participate. When you might normally (consciously or not) make the choice for inaction, make the choice for action instead.
Truly live your life to the fullest! Participate when you normally wouldn’t.
Here are some situations that you might likely say no to. I challenge you to participate and choose yes instead!
- When people invite you out and you’re sitting on the fence, say yes.
- Deciding between going for a walk and watching TV, choose the action. Go for a walk.
- When seeing other people getting involved in the community, choose to join them! As long as it’s something you’re also excited about, don’t wait to see how it turns out for your friend, jump into action!
- If a friend invites you to the opera and you don’t know if you like opera, go find out!
- If a friend invites you bungee-jumping and you think you might be too chicken for that, go find out!
- If a friend invites you to go to Italy and you’re not sure if you’ll enjoy travelling, go find out! (But only after you’ve introduced that friend to me!)
- When someone smiles or flirts with you, smile and flirt right back (and this applies to both the married and unmarried, because a little innocent extramarital flirting can bring some fun back into the marriage!) .
- When you are at a restaurant and about to order the same old things… pick something different and discover how you feel about something new.
- If you are invited to an event where you won’t know anyone, or you don’t know if you will know anyone… say yes to the invitation and meet some new people.
Okay over to you:
What are other situations you should be saying ‘yes’ to? How has saying ‘yes’ impacted your daily life and mood? I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment below.
Choose the Life You Want. Choose Action!
If you want to have the amazing fulfilling life of your dreams, you need to participate. You need to choose to get into action. It’s a simple fact, yet so many of us struggle with just how to manage this!
It’s so easy to just sit, hope, wonder and wait for the life of your dreams. But if you want your life to be different, you have to make it different! Just like everything else, it’s a choice.Read More >>>
Be In Balanced Action
If you read my last post and got inspired to take some time off, hopefully you are feeling at least a little bit rejuvenated. Because, it’s now time to kick things into action!
September is one of those months. Such that even though it is two-thirds of the way through the year, it feels like the beginning. I’m still reminded about those first days of school getting new crayons, new books, new classes, and new teachers. And those nostalgic memories always inspire me to get into new action and re-commit to life!Read More >>>
Take Back Your Life Month
Last year, I declared May 16th ‘Take Back Your Life’ Day, because that’s the day that I took back my life from that evil beast, Cancer. It’s so important to me that this year I’m declaring the whole month of May ‘Take Back Your Life’. (Or in the more hip and with-it format: #TakeBackYourLife.)
Along with April’s theme of Fully Alive we’ve talked a lot about life’s wake up calls coming our way and being forced to choose to make a change in your life. The reality is that these little wake up calls are not only forcing us to choose Fully Alive, they are waking us up to what is important. Like, really, really important.
We don’t have forever, but we do have NOW. And there are two things that that makes me think of. One is making NOW count, not frittering it away doing things that are important only to other people, doing things that aren’t true to us or our hearts – that aren’t how we would live if we only had one more day, one more week, one more month or one more year left.

Stop Hiding Your Passion
Over the past month we’ve worked through understanding passion. We addressed the 3 Components of BEing a Passionate Person. You journaled your way through CHOOSING your passions. The last step? LIVE your passion. (Read more on my Signýficant Living framework here, here and here.)
The reality is that most of us have at least one passion that we’ve been hiding from the world. What I’m pushing you towards today is to take the tough step of revealing and really, truly celebrating your passions now; even the ones that you’re a little bit shy about, or dare I say it, ashamed of.
Hopefully through the journaling you did last week you were able to discover what that passion is. Maybe you’re a closet Trekkie and you’ve had a lifelong dream of attending a conference full of other Trekkies just like you. Or maybe you’ve got a grand vision for starting an NGO, but the overwhelming mountainous size of the task has prevented you from admitting this dream to others.
Think through these questions (use this journal guide to help):Read More >>>
Passion: Not Just For Lovers
Passion is one of those words we hear a lot this time of year. It gets wrapped up with all of those Valentine-y things like: a dozen roses, a box of chocolates, date nights, sexual desire, romance and love. As in romantic love. Now don’t get me wrong, a huge part of romantic love is passion, but what I’m saying is that passion is something bigger, something not simply reserved for couples or Valentine’s Day. Passion is for all of us, always.
Passion is that inexplicable fire that drives us. It is the thing that gets us to put all of our energy into a task. It is what guides us in our decision-making. It is what pushes us to our purpose. It is both a key ingredient and a key outcome of fully alive.
Passion is the juice that has us be fully alive and it should be something that is invited into our lives daily!
